Energy Calculator is a specialized application intended for use by veterinarians, veterinary students, nurses, technicians, and nutritionists. It provides estimates of the energy density in canine and feline diets based on proximate analysis data.
Users input the diet's proximate analysis, and the tool computes the estimated metabolizable energy density using established equations, including those from the NRC 2006*, as well as the Atwater and modified Atwater formulas, alongside gross energy calculations.
Additionally, the application delivers the relative contribution of macronutrients to the diet’s caloric content, expressed as a percentage of metabolizable energy via the modified Atwater method.
By selecting a specific energy density value, users can also access the nutrient-to-energy ratios of key components, presented in mg/Mcal or mg/MJ units.
